Baby Makaelyn's First Photo Shoot

This little lady made her debut in true firecracker fashion on the 4th of July!

We met her parents a couple of years ago when Kristen and I photographed their wedding.  I was super happy to get an e-mail a few months back to schedule a newborn session once she arrived.  Her mom and dad are seriously two of the nicest people you will ever meet. (And are TOTALLY in love with her!)

Turns out she already has a mind of her own and didn't want anything to do with photos in the beginning.  We kept trying to get her to sleep but she was having none of that.  We did manage to capture a smile though!

Mom and dad (and photographer) were patient with her and eventually she did drift off into dreamland.  As soon as that happened we were in stealth mode.  I moved quickly and quietly (like a ninja!) to position her and change out hats, headbands and diaper covers.  In the end we got some really amazing photos.

This right here is why I love my job!!!

Our Pet Expo Drawing Winner

Congratulations to Amanda!  She was the winner of our drawing at the Lyco. Co. SPCA's Pet Expo for a free 2 hour session!

And what is a more appropriate photo session for a pet expo winner than a photo session with your dog?

I had a blast working with these two.  Amanda's dog Daisy was a hoot!

We met up at Indian Park in Montoursville.  It was my first time shooting at that location so I wasn't really sure what to expect.  It turned out to be the perfect location.  The day was pretty warm but Daisy did great keeping up with us and taking plenty of breaks for cool water.

I really don't think I could have asked for a better photo session!  We moved all over the park taking advantage of the covered bridge, the gazebo and the pond.  Daisy was a little bit worn out by the end of it was totally worth it!

Just For Fun

I think it's time to admit that I pretty much stink at blogging.  The past couple of weeks have been really busy and if I have to choose between shooting and editing photos or blogging about them I will choose shooting every time.

That being said I am going to try to do better!

In the meantime please enjoy.

Carissa's Senior Photos

I think I've said it before but I will say it again.....I just LOVE working with high school seniors!

Carissa wanted something a little different for her Senior Pictures so I suggested what I thought would be the perfect location.  As soon as she heard railroad tracks she was sold!  I have done a couple of photo shoots at this location and was super excited to be working there again. I love the railroad tracks and the bridge.  About 10 seconds after the above photo was taken we heard the whistle so we immediately jumped off the tracks.  Not long after we saw the train coming around the turn.  It was pretty much perfect timing because I just had told her that if she sees a train coming behind me to please tell me before I get run over!  =)

Carissa is an artist so we hit it off really well and had so much fun talking about everything that her photo session flew past super fast.  Before we knew it we were losing the light and had to wrap up.  We ended up with some pretty amazing photos.

Family Photos at Talleyrand

A few weeks ago I got the opportunity to work with one of my favorite families again...in one of my favorite parks.  It really doesn't get much better than that!

This little guy has so much energy and has the ability to find fun in everything.  He always keeps me laughing.

Talleyrand park is in Bellefonte and the home to probably around 100 or so ducks.  Springtime is awesome because there are baby ducks everywhere.  He really loved watching them swim behind their mama and we even got to see a couple of ducks go down over the waterfall.

Talleyrand also has 2 train cars that are permanent residents at the park and they usually offer some pretty cool photo opportunities...especially if you have a conductor's hat!

It's pretty much the perfect park for family photos!  Enjoy!

SPCA's Pet Expo Recap

Lycoming County SPCA's Pet Expo

The Lycoming County SPCA's Pet Expo was this past Sunday on June 2.  A huge thank you goes out to everyone that stopped by our booth and said "Hi!".

We had two tables set up with a variety of samples of our work.  This included 2 large display boards filled with photos, 1 small display board with samples of our sports photos, various framed prints, photo books, trading cards and more.  My dog A.J. even stopped by the booth for a couple of hours and greeted visitors.  She is a Lycoming County SPCA "alumni", we adopted her last November.  She was a huge hit and the workers from the SPCA loved seeing her and how well she is doing.  It was pretty hot and she took up residence in the shade under one of the tables with her head sticking out from under the table cover watching people go by.

We had a drawing for a free 2 hour on location photo session and since we had a lot of interest we decided to pull a few extra names for $20 off a 2 hour session.  Congratulations to all of our winners!

With school winding down and summer gearing up it's time to think about family portraits!

Right now we are booking for July and August.  June is already full and August is about half booked at this point.  Check your schedule and give us a call or e-mail to schedule your session today!

What we've been up to

Families, Seniors, Graduations, First Holy Communion, Gymnastics, OH MY!

May has been a whirlwind, it's hard to believe it's almost June!  I'm hoping to do a better job of keeping up with the blog now that we've had a chance to catch our breath.

June is already shaping up to be a busy month.  We already have  few family sessions scheduled and we will be kicking off our Senior Rep program for 2014 graduates.  Make sure to stop by and visit with us at the Lycoming County SPCA's Pet Expo on June 2 at Indian Park in Montoursville.  Don't forget to put your name into the drawing for a free two hour on location session.  We'll be under the red canopy!

Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Sweet Little Amelia

In continuation of "Baby Week" I'd like you to meet sweet little Amelia!

This little lady was more alert than most newborns and we all thought that she was going to really make us work for each and every photo.

We took a little extra time to make everything as comfortable for her as possible.  A full tummy and a nice, warm room work miracles.  She was awesome!

Not only was Amelia awesome but her parents are two of the nicest people you will ever meetThey are also totally in love with this little girl. Most new dads are a little nervous and tend to hang back a little....not her daddy.  He was right in there doing whatever he could to help out.  She definitely has a special place in daddy's heart.

Isn't she beautiful?  I think peach is definitely her color!

Have  a great weekend everyone!

Mister Colton

Happy Spring everyone!

It's about time spring has made an appearance here in central PA!  I want to kick off this post with a photo of one of the cutest little bunnies...ever.

Isn't he a handsome young man?!?

Colton had just turned 6 months old and he was becoming quite a master at the whole sitting up thing.  He was also totally interested in those plastic Easter eggs.  In fact once we were done with them we had to hide them.  "Out of site, out of mind!"

Lucky for him once the eggs went away...out came the blocks...I think those were even more fun.

He is seriously the happiest little guy!

He came right to me and gave me hugs and laughed at me.  Then he hammed it up for his photos, he seriously made.my.day.

He also totally loves his Mama....  (I think know she is totally in love with him too!)

Baby Kynleigh

I got to meet this little cutie when she was around 10 days old!

She was the most perfect little angel for her photos, she slept through almost everything!  Changing hat and headbands, even picking her up and changing positions did not bother this girlie at all, she's a natural model!

 Look at ALL that hair!!!

She even let me sneak in a few snuggles between shots.  She's such a sweet girl!

Usually with newborn sessions you never quite know how it will go...this little lady (and her parents!) made my job such a pleasure! Usually we figure in lots of time to feeding, diapering, comforting and soothing.  She was so content that we didn't need all the extra time for soothing, instead we got extra "bonus" time just to play around with hats and poses.  (And that almost never happens, needless to say I was super excited!)

I'll leave you with my MOST favorite photo from the day.  It almost didn't happen.

Her mommy made a tutu for her and I think the only thing this girl doesn't like is tutus!!  Every time it touched her she screamed so we set it aside.  Towards the end of the session she was in a deep sleep.  We're talking out cold.  Her dad suggested we try the tutu one more time....we slowly put it on her and held our breath.............  Not a peep, we were golden.

TOTALLY awesome!

(Great idea dad!)
